One Wonderful Sunday - Early Kurosawa feature about a man, Yuzo, and his fiance, Masako, who want to spend an enjoyable afternoon out, even though it is cold and rainy and they have very little money. Feeling all but defeated after a number of failed attempts at leisure, Yuzo turns to conducting an imaginary orchestra, to little avail. Stylistically daring, with the seeds of Kurosawa's later work evident, this was his first and only foray into shomin-geki, the 1930s-40s Japanese drama of the common man.
