This record was made in 1979 and the track "Disco Monk" is, in fact, everything you'd rightfully fear it to be. That said, everyone on this album can play. "The File" is a duet for Rollins and guitarist Larry Coryell, who sets up a spirited 12-string vamp for the tenorist to work through. It's an unusual combination and it works. This approach is reprised (with Coryell on a six-string acoustic guitar) for the set's one standard, "My Ideal," to which Rollins lends solos and unaccompanied work as well.
